Travel Bug

Probably the knarliest thing we did on our last vacation to HI was hike the sea cliffs on the East Side. On a normal day it probably would be a piece of cake to do this hike but this was far from a normal day, at least to our standards. The winds felt like they we blowing 35-40 mph and it rained on and off. There were definitely times when I was nervous for J and myself, moreso for J, but she was a trooper and was probably more fearless than I was.

I only brought one camera lens for obvious reasons and these pictures don't nearly do this hike justice but the architecture and shape of the sea cliffs is pretty amazing. To see how nature has naturally formed these cliffs is really beautiful. At the "end" of the hike there is a naturally formed rock bridge. We didn't dare walk on it because of the wind but I plan on going back there and taking a picture on it.

J and I haven't been able to travel as much as I've wanted but I'm looking forward to going on more adventures like this with my little love!

Studio Time

Ok, so our "studio" was our garage but I was actually very pleased with all the pictures we took. I've been trying to take pictures wherever and whenever possible and adapting to situations rather than organizing and planning shoots.

Today, I asked J to look like a Hip-Hop dancer and I think she did a good job of that. We cleared out her garage and used one of the broken chairs from their old dining table as a prop. Here are some of our favorites from today. As you'll see in the pictures, it was hard for us not to laugh and be too serious at times.

I've been wanting an instant film camera for a really long time and J was nice enough to get me one. This particular camera is super cool and I love it because it looks like an old-school film camera. In the past, I've been hesitant to buy an instafilm cam because I wasn't very fond of the way many cameras looked. Now I've got this bad-boy and I can't wait to use it!

We Miss Hawaii

It's only been a week but we already miss Hawaii. I'm super jealous of my sister right now because her, my niece, and my brother-in-law are heading out there tomorrow morning. Hopefully J and I can make it out there again soon. Until then, we'll be counting down the days until we go back.

So yesterday we celebrated both Easter Sunday and my mom's belated birthday. I guess I never really noticed how big my family was until I started dating J and started going to her family parties. He family is pretty small compared to my, at least that's how it is at their family parties (she has family located in different parts of the country).

I love family time and would give anything to have more days like this. There are so many kids in my family and there's never a dull moment with my crazy family. I love them all to pieces!

Tonight I got the chance to perform with the whole KM family, which included the kids, modern and us :) We really only put the set together in about a month, and since I was on vacation last week… I had to do a ton of catching up when I got home on Wednesday. It turned out really well and it's always so much fun to see everyone!

SD Padres

Went to my first Padres game in two seasons today with my boy Blaise. Petco Park is still absolutely beautiful as the first season it opened but I'd have to say, I'm quite impressed with all the new concessions this year.

Two of the best additions in my opinion are Phil's BBQ and Baked Bear. My mouth is watering just looking at the pictures I took earlier today. It's pretty neat how all the additions are SD based businesses and not just some global company that you can find anywhere - i.e. McDonalds. Definitely gives out-of-towners a good sense of what SD has to offer in the F&B industry.

Even though the Padres lost, I had a great time just hanging out and watching some baseball. Hoping to make another trip to the ballpark soon!

Back to Cali

After a long night/morning of traveling back to Cali, we finally made it back home. We had a wonderful trip but I can't tell you how excited I am to be sleeping in my own bed tonight.

I have a ton of photos that I have to sort through this week but here is one of my favorites. I can never get tired of taking pictures of this beaut!

Today is our last day on the island. We hung out with our friends, Tim, Christina and their dog Lily. We went to north shore and ate at Dat Cajun Guy's food truck. So amazing! Got a little bit of sun and of course, had to hit up Ted's Bakery! 

We hit a ton of traffic but at least we had good company on the way back. 

Then we got to finally sample some of Uncle's Kitchen, food from our friends food truck. The most amazing deconstructed musubi's ever! 

And now we are headed to the airport to fly home on the red eye :( We're sad to be leaving, but hopefully we'll be back soon!

Whenever I'm in Hawaii, I'm usually with one of my best buds, Blaise. This time around, he didn't make it out to the islands with us and I've been super bummed about it. Luckily for us we were able to meet up with his dad, Uncle Benny, and Auntie Gina.

I absolutely love hanging out with them and catching up. They're so much fun to hang out with and really great company. They always take us to the best spots to eat and it was more of the same today.

We headed over to Genki sushi and did some SERIOUS work. Genki is pretty fun and the conveyor-belt-style service is fun and entertaining. I'm actually surprised there's not a lot of sushi joints like this on the mainland.

Afterwards, we headed to Frost City for some dessert. A couple hours and a ton of laughs/conversations later, we took this picture and headed back home. I'm already looking forward to seeing them again and hopefully the next time is with Blaise.

XxApril 11, 2013 is the day we lost my grandfather. He was a loving yet grumpy old soul, whom we all loved dearly. And today we visited our Suzuki side of the family at the graveyard

Missing him everyday and thankful for all the moments and memories I have had. 

E and I also went on our own adventure to the Sea Cliffs. My legs are gonna be really sore tomorrow!
